Everyone and their dog knows how important eyebrows are right now. They have to be big, they have to be bushy and they have to have a great shape. My eyebrows, however, are the complete opposite. They are naturally very thin as a result of over plucking and they are quite fair. They are practically nonexistent without make up and they have been a constant struggle since eyebrows became a thing. I have had many a ‘oh God, did my friends really let me out of the house with my eyebrows looking like that?!’ moments. So when I came across the YSL Couture Brow mascara, I let out a sigh of relief and hope. Had my ongoing battle for the perfect eyebrows really come to an end? I was hopeful that it had, especially due to the £21 price tag. But was this a case of ‘you get what you pay for'? I was keen to find out. The first time I used it I will admit, I got in a bit of a mess. Putting mascara on my eyebrows was not something I was overly familiar with. I had used pencils, powder kits and eyebrow gels galore, but they all failed to impress. I started by wiping off the excess mascara from the end of the wand and making long brush strokes along my eyebrows in an upwards motion. This, however, left some mascara above my brows and ended up looking a little messy. So I tried shorter brush strokes in a sort of ‘up and out' motion. This was much tidier. I then tried a second coat as they were not looking as good as I felt they could. This is where I almost squealed with joy. My battle was over! My brows looked thicker and in better shape than I could ever have imagined without some sort of transplant! I then went back and filled in any gaps with pencil which was the final touch to perfect thick brows that looked totally natural. I have since altered my technique slightly. I now lightly pencil an outline to follow before using the mascara. I feel this gives a good guide to follow and avoids getting carried away with the mascara.

I now use this every day and would never want to be without it. It is well worth the £21 price tag. I have a feeling it is going to last me a long time too as I have used it every day for a month and it is showing no signs of running out. All in all a very highly recommended product.
